The Centre for Modern European Literature at the University of Kent will be hosting Dr Lucie Campos from Collège de France as Visiting Research Fellow from 25 March to 5 April. During her time at Canterbury, Dr Campos, who is also an editor of the online journal La Vie des Idées, will give a paper, and will lead a workshop.
Her talk entitled ‘History without Pathos?’ will be taking place at 5:00 pm on 26 March 2014, and will be exploring examples of late twentieth-century literature which, while closely related to historical context, seem to avoid or to deconstruct the mechanisms of pathos and empathy often associated with fiction.
The workshop entitled ‘Online Publishing in the Humanities’, on the other hand, will be taking place at 5:00 pm on 1 April 2014, and will provide the opportunity to discuss different aspects of online publishing as well as current debates about the possibility of a European space for research.
