The winners of the John Dryden Translation Competition for 2013-2014 will be receiving their prizes during the Inaugural BCLA Annual General Meeting and Colloquy which will take place at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) on 4 October 2014, Saturday.
Sponsored by the Norwegian Embassy and the Institut Français du Royaume-Uni, the Prize Giving Ceremony will commence at 4:45 pm. Readings of the prize winning entries will be followed by a reading by the acclaimed poet and translator Robin Robertson whose Sailing the Forest: Selected Poems has just been published by Picador.
The winners of the John Dryden Translation Competition for 2013-2014 are:
First prize: Lesley Lawn for ‘Mute’ from the French ‘La Muette’ by Chahdortt Djavann.
Second prize: Lucy Moffatt for ‘The Skeleton and the Anatomy Book’ from the Norwegian ‘Skjelettet og Anatomiboka’ by Hans Herbjørnsrud.
Third prize: Judith Woolf for Act 1, Scene ‘The Magic Flute’ from the German ‘Die Zauberflöte’ by Emanuel Schikaneder.
