Jean Boase-Beier‘s new book, Translating the Poetry of the Holocaust: Translation, Style and the Reader has been recently published by Bloomsbury. Currently affiliated with the University of East Anglia, Professor Boase-Beier is former member of the BCLA Executive Committee as well as member of the Advisory Panel of the British Centre for Literary Translation, and former Executive Committee member of the Translators Association.
Taking a cognitive approach, this book asks what poetry, and in particular Holocaust poetry, does to the reader – and to what extent the translation of this poetry can have the same effects.
The British Centre for Literary Translation will be organising a book launch for Translating the Poetry of the Holocaust on 25 June 2015 at 3:00 pm at the University of East Anglia. See the website for details.
