Convergences and Divergences in Literature: Towards a New Comparatism

Convergences and Divergences in Literature: Towards a New Comparatism
29-30 October 2015

The Spanish Comparative Literature Association (SELGyC) is pleased to announce the I SELGyC POSTGRADUATE AND EARLY CAREER RESEARCHERS CONFERENCE, to be held at the Autonomous University of Madrid on 29 and 30 October 2015.

Contacts between literatures are multiple and complex: they appear variously as easily recognizable influences, twisted quotations, well-prepared networks or hidden hypotexts. This I SELGyC Postgraduate and Early Career Researchers Conference aims to explore the different methods that lead to literary creation, showing how the originality of literature arises precisely from this encounter of texts, themes, motifs, and authors, ultimately a play of convergences and divergences within the literary heritage.

Postgraduate and early career researchers are invited to submit original papers for consideration. Those who wish to present a paper must send their registration form before September 4 to The Scientific Committee of the Conference will review and select the submitted abstracts; the authors will be notified of the results before September 14.

The conference aims mainly, but not exclusively, to bring together postgraduate and early career researchers who are currently working in the various fields of Comparative Literature, and to provide a forum for debate and for dissemination of their work in progress. Please see the website for more details.
