The School of Communication and Culture at Aarhus University (Denmark) invites applications for a position as assistant professor in comparative literature. The assistant professorship is a full-time, three-year training position, and subject to appropriate funding there will be an opportunity to apply for a subsequent associate professorship. The assistant professorship is located at the Department of Comparative Literature and Rhetoric and is available from 1 November 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated candidate who will contribute to Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange. The successful applicant must have strong academic competences within comparative literature and the cultural, social and material contexts of literature. Furthermore, applicants should have qualifications in research in literature and literary history in at least two languages.
We are looking for a dedicated candidate who has strong research experience in the comparative dimension of literary studies as well as in the relationship of literature to broader cultural, social and material contexts. Applicants must submit a 3-5 year research plan within this area and must reflect on how the proposed research can contribute to the integration of the historical and the cultural/social/material dimension in literary courses at both the BA and MA level.
