Conference sponsorship & funding

The BCLA offers a certain number of funding awards and sponsorship for conferences and research events organised by members.  The maximum amount awarded per event is £200.00. There is no set deadline, but applications must be submitted and approved by the BCLA before the event is held.  Successful applicants will be asked to write a report on the event for publication on the BCLA website.

Please download and complete the BCLA Conference Application Form, providing full details of the event, and return to the BCLA Conference Officer, whose contact address can be found on the form.



Recent Conferences sponsored by the BCLA

A conference was held at the University of Glasgow, 12 – 13 September 2019, entitled Beastly Modernisms 2019, a multidisciplinary conference spanning the fields of animal studies, modernism and the environmental humanities.

The BCLA sponsored a two-day interdisciplinary symposium organised at the University of Leeds, entitled Samuel Beckett and Roland Barthes: un dialogue de sourds, 26 and 27 April 2019. This event brought together eight delegates from France, the USA and the UK, to debate the two writers Samuel Beckett and Roland Barthes from multiple disciplinary perspectives.

A conference  was organised by the Centre for Myth Studies, University of Essex and the Psychosocial Studies Research Group, University of East London entitled Translating Eurydice, comprised of “readings of Eurydice by academics, analysts, poets, painters and performers allowing the participants to consider the multidimensional character of myth and also to draw comparisons between texts and the various other retellings of the well-known story of Orpheus and Eurydice.
