BCLA Glyn Hambrook Postgraduate Research Award (deadline 31 December 2023)

All postgraduate members of the British Comparative Literature Association are invited to apply for the Glyn Hambrook Postgraduate Research Award, worth up to £250.00. This sum may be used by postgraduate students for any costs incurred for the purpose of research activities. These may include travel expenses, registration fees for conferences or seminars, enrolment for other relevant training courses, the purchase and download of applicable software, or the costs of books, journals, and stationery. The purchase of equipment such as laptops, mobiles or other hardware is not eligible.

Applications for the award can be made through this link. Please download the form, complete and send via e-mail as an attachment to the BCLA Secretary, Josh Robinson.

Applicants should be members of the BCLA, and should also be students registered for a postgraduate degree (e.g. MA, MSt, MRes, MPhil PhD) in the field of comparative literature, defined here as the interaction of at least two bodies of literature (writers, genres, etc) that are not confined to one national literature. To reduce the burden both on applicants and on assessors, the Award will be allocated at random to one applicant who meets these eligibility criteria

Applications for membership may be made at this link.

The deadline for applications is December 31, 2023, 23:59. No applications can be accepted after this date.

This award is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Dr Glyn Hambrook, former Reader in Comparative and European Literature, and co-director the Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research in the Faculty of Arts, University of Wolverhampton, member of the Executive Committee of the British Comparative Literature Association, and co-editor of the Association’s journal, Comparative Critical Studies.
