The BCLA has four categories of membership:
- Members in full time employment at a UK or international higher education institution or any other establishment whose work is related to scholarship in comparative literature and related fields.
Subscription rates for one year are: £45.00 (UK) €55.00 (Europe) $75.00 (World)
- Retired, emeritus and part-time lecturers and researchers at a UK or international higher education institution, or any other establishment whose work is related to scholarship in comparative literature and related fields. Lecturers and researchers employed on fixed-term or zero-hours contracts are also eligible; Freelance authors and scholars are also welcome to apply.
Subscription rates for one year are: £25.00 (UK) €30.00 (Europe) $75 (World)
- Postgraduate members registered for a Masters, MPhil, MRes or PhD degree at a UK or international Higher Education Institution.
Subscription rates for one year are: £18.00 (UK) €25.00 (Europe) $30.00 (World)
- Departmental membership: University and Higher Education departments with a teaching and research interest in comparative literature and its related fields are welcome to apply. Departmental membership fees are adjusted to the size and scope of each department, its programmes and staff cohort through a 20% discount on subscriptions, which are applied across the board to staff and postgraduate student rates: that is, £36.00 for full-time members of staff, £20.00 for part-time members of staff and £14.00 for post-graduate members. Please choose your individual subscription rate via the online application form, which will receive a response in not more than two working days.
Payment may be made by cheque, International Money Order, online or direct bank transfer, or Standing Order. Further specifics on payment and correspondence concerning membership will be provided by the Treasurer of the BCLA, once a completed and valid online application form has been received.
The BCLA would like to encourage members to pay by Standing Order, as it establishes continuity of membership and assists with the BCLA’s administrative processes.
For international members, the BCLA is also happy to accept international payment by electronic wire facilities such as TransferWise, which incurs minimum fees.
